COA's Happy Hearts Senior Program - Celebrating the Return of our Senior Day Event

Almost 100 seniors enjoyed a day of fun and laughter at Christian Outreach in Action.

COA's Happy Hearts Senior Program - COA holds a "Senior Day" on a Wednesday of every OTHER month. Our Next Senior Day is May 24th, 2023. To register, call Lillian at 562-432-1440

COA offers a Foodbank for all seniors ages 55+ Every Wednesday from 10 am - 12:30 pm. All are welcome for healthy, nutritious groceries.

For years, COA's senior program would provide a day of joy and fun for seniors. Yesterday, we celebrated the return of our Senior Day Lunch Event after a few years of hiatus due to Covid-19 restrictions. Seniors are invited to join us for a day all to themselves. Each event includes live entertainment, an educational component, Bingo with prizes, and a nutritious hot lunch, and they leave with a bag of groceries and goodies.

All seniors are served lunch with dessert and leave with a bag of groceries, goodies, and more.

Live Entertainment

It wouldn't be Senior Day without some LIVE entertainment! We welcomed Elvis Presley, a band, a Hula Dancer, and a singer!

Surprise Cameo Appearance

The Easter Bunny decided to hop by for some pictures at our photo booth.

The Long Beach Health Department and the Long Beach Public Library Foundation - Health & Education

Thanks to Long Beach Health Dept., flu shots were offered to all seniors in attendance. The Long Beach Public Library Foundation provided resources available for seniors and distributed applications for library cards.

And then there was BINGO!

Bingo with prizes is always fun! Researchers worldwide have found that playing Bingo is beneficial for older adults: Building social connections, maintaining focus and cognitive abilities, and increasing hand-eye coordination....and it's SO MUCH FUN!!!

Special THANK YOU to our Executive Director, Dixie who was the Bingo number caller.

We LOVE our Volunteers!

Special thank you to T-Lily who did a fantastic job as our announcer, Elvis, the band, the singer, the Hula dancer, and all who volunteered. You really helped make a difference! The team from Welbe Health (and thank you for donating some of the Bingo prizes), T-Lily and team (Who also presented us with a cash donation), Bethany Lutheran Church - Women’s Bible Study, SCAN Health Plan, Liza, Jesse, and everyone else who came to help make this day special for our seniors.

Help us continue our Senior Day Program. Your recurring or one-time donation will go a long way in helping keep our seniors happy and healthy.
